Great for your home, even better for your family.

People who live in damp, mouldy homes are more likely to become ill than those whose homes are dry and warm. Nearly half of Kiwi homes have mould, many are damp and some are even inhospitable. This leads to many cases of colds/flu and can aggravate asthma and other respiratory conditions that more than 800,000 New Zealanders suffer from. A significant number of our population is allergic to moulds, spores and their toxic products. Mould allergy can cause respiratory symptoms and hay-fever type problems. One in four children now suffer from asthma and one in 200 deaths in New Zealand are due to asthma. Some people also find dampness triggers rheumatism.

A warm, dry home can make a huge difference to the health and lifestyle of its occupants.

Correct in-home heating will dramatically change your homes environment with positive health benefits such as reduced condensation, improved (or sustained) health, increased comfort, less time off work/school due to illness (as shown in an Otago University Healthy Homes programme study) and of course, less visits to the doctors/hospital. Further analysis of the ‘Housing, Heating and Health’ study conducted by the University of Otago, Wellington shows that improved home heating reduces asthma symptoms in children in New Zealand.  The results showed a positive improvement in children’s health following the installation of better heating. “Specifically the children had improved health, less sleep disturbance and wheezing, less coughing at night and improved respiratory systems. They also had fewer days off school and fewer visits to the doctor and chemist. This study shows that sustainable heaters are good for children’s health”.

The National Asthma Council Australia and Asthma Respiratory Foundation of New Zealand introduced the ‘Sensitive Choice program’ to identify products better suited for people who suffer from asthma and allergies. They chose Daikin as the only Split System Heat Pump Air Conditioner and Air Purifier authorised to display the Sensitive Choice butterfly symbol. Daikin Split Systems and Air Purifiers have advanced air purifying technology that may help reduce the triggers that affect asthma and allergy sufferers. This technology also helps to provide a cleaner, fresher indoor environment for you and your family. Most of the Daikin Split Systems have also been fitted with Photocatalytic air purifying filters which not only trap microscopic airborne particles, but also decompose odours and absorb and deactivate bacteria and viruses.
